Overseas Chinese Student Working Permit Information

Information about Working Permit for Overseas Chinese Students

  • Important Information
    1. Overseas chinese students during their studies in Taiwan, if they want to work/part-time or internship (including unpaid internships), regarding to the government regulation they need to apply for a working permit.
    2. The application period for a working permit maximum of 6 months, the fall semester is from October 1 to 31 March, the spring semester is from April 1 to 30 September.
    3. Excluding summer and winter vacation, overseas students maximum can work 20 hours in one week.
    4. The students who didn't follow the regulation above will be fined NTD 30,000 to 150,000.
    5. Overseas students who get the Taiwan Scholarship, if caught working illegally, the scholarship will be canceled and the students need to pay back the scholarship that students have already gotten before.
    6. Overseas students who get the scholarship from the Taiwan Ministry of Education, can apply for a working permit but cannot use the reason "to support studying and living".

 

  • Application eligibility
    1. ​Overseas chinese students who come to Taiwan study for a degree, also have got the ARC and finish the registration procedure.
    2. The reason for apply the working permit:
      • to support studying and living
      • to assist academic research on campus
      • to do course-related internship off-campus
      • study for a master's degree and get the permission from the school for doing the research related to the courses

 

  • The needed documents:
    1. the valid passport
    2. student id card (need the stamp for that semester from academic affairs)
    3. the approval signature from the advisor and chair of the department that agrees the students apply for the working permit (MCUT Form)
    4. examination fee NTD$100 pay at the post office
    5. front and back ARC
