International Internship Pilot Program (IIPP)
Program Introduction
The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) established this program to provide a channel for international research talents to intern in Taiwan. This initiative aims to deepen their understanding of Taiwan’s research capabilities, encouraging them to pursue further studies or employment in Taiwan. Ultimately, the program seeks to enhance Taiwan’s research capacity and human resources.

Application Period:International interns must complete the application process before November.

Available Positions:The program plans to offer 300 internship opportunities during the project period.

Internship Duration: Maximum of 3 months (90 days) [No extensions allowed]. The Principal Investigator (PI) is responsible for arranging and planning internship positions during the application period.

Application Process:PIs submitting internship vacancies and international students applying proactively should register an account and complete the required information on the official website: IIPP Portal.

Internship Guidelines:The PI must provide appropriate research guidance to interns during the internship, facilitate interactions between interns and Taiwanese students, introducing them to Taiwan’s diverse culture, and Interns must conduct research and learning activities related to their assigned research projects.

Each PI can offer up to 2 internship positions.

Students are advised to complete their application 6 to 8 weeks before the internship start date.
The IIPP system closes application processing on the 16th of each month. For example: The November intake will close on September 16. The last intake for the 2023 program (January–March 2024) will close on November 16. - Applicants must be currently enrolled at an overseas institution (students from China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan are not eligible). Interns cannot receive any other Taiwan-related scholarships and cannot participate in other funded projects simultaneously.
